The statement was signed by Mr Fan Ndubuoke, the authority's spokesman.
It said that Capt. Fola Akinkuotu, the director-general of the NCAA, adjudged the outcome of the audit concluded on 13 December as good and healthy.
"The director-general described the exercise as painstaking, professional and transparent, involving the NCAA Flight Standard Group in conjunction with their foreign partners."
The statement quoted the director-general as saying that the NCAA would meet with Dana Air officials during which their plan of action for closing "open items" would be reviewed and agreed upon.
It said that consultations would also be made to determine a possible date for the resumption of flight operations.
The statement also quoted Akinkuotu as saying that from now, the audit would be an annual exercise for all airlines, including Dana Air.
"The essence of this is to ensure safety in the sky and also to avoid hitches in flight operations."

Fathia/Saidi Balogun Name Tussle Gets Messier: 'She Only Bore Me 2 Children, Not 3--Saidi Balogun

The tug of war between ex-couple; Fathia and Saidi Balogun is getting messier by the day.

Recall that few days ago, Saidi reacted to a news report that he took his wife to court seeking to force her to stop using the name 'Balogun', since they were no more living together as husband and wife. Saidi claimed the report was false, which Fathia maintained was true.
Saidi has again rose in defense of himself after his former wife accused him of being a liar.

In a press statement, the actor revealed that contrary to the believe that Fathia bore him three children, she only gave him two. Saidi disclosed that Fathia had a child for her previous husband, who she divorced before marrying him.

His press release reads; "Yesterday, I was accused of lying to the press on a recent rumor that has been circulating. I separated from my ex-wife Fathia Balogun in 2006, over 7 years ago.

"Since we were LEGALLY MARRIED IN COURT, we had to LEGALLY DIVORCE IN COURT to finalize the issue. The public is welcome to go to the Lagos High Court to verify these records.

"This has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY NAME! I AM NOT ASKING OR FORCING FATHIA TO STOP USING THE NAME BALOGUN, as it is one of the most common Yoruba names.

"Furthermore, to set the record straight, Fathia and I had TWO children together NOT THREE. Fathia's first child is from a different husband that she later divorced before we were married.

"I never lied to anyone. Journalists presented me with a rumor that had no basis in fact, so I simply stated that I DO NOT WANT MY PRIVATE LIFE MADE PUBLIC. IT IS MY PRIVACY AND CONCERNS NOBODY. I decided to stay quiet as the two parties involved in this issue are over 40 years old, and I think we are old enough to handle this issue MATURELY instead of turning our private matters into a public gossip debate.

"I hope this issue is now clarified for the public, as I SAIDI BALOGUN am divulging the true facts myself instead of using a MISINFORMED publicist to do so for me. There are so many positive aspects of Nigeria's entertainment industry, we would rather focus on negative meaningless noise instead of these positive components.

"PLEASE GIVE ME THE RESPECT OF KEEPING MY PERSONAL LIFE PRIVATE AND OUT OF THE PUBLIC EYE. I AM FOCUSING ON MY WORK. THANK YOU!"

First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has canvassed for strong punishments with legal backing to deter perpetrators of sexual violence against women.

Dame Jonathan spoke in Paris, France at an advocacy meeting on sexual violence against women organised by the First Lady of France, Ms. Valerie Trierweiler, on the sideline of the Elysee Summit for Peace and Security in Africa holding in Paris, France.

The Nigerian First Lady appealed to over 50 spouses of world leaders who attended the summit to effectively explore their positions in mobilising support against sexual violence and other abuses against women.

She however contended that conflict related to sexual abuse should not be regarded as unavoidable or acceptable consequences of war because of their devastating consequences against the dignity of womanhood.

Further, Dame Jonathan advised leaders and policy makers to ensure promotion of girl-child education, women empowerment and gender equality as critical steps to stop sexual violence against women.

While calling on member states of the United Nations, especially, African leaders, to reassert their commitment to the effective implementation of UN Resolutions on women, the First Lady specifically advocated commitment to the implementation of Resolution 1325, which called for greater protection of women from gender based violence.

She emphasised the need for strategic collaboration and the inclusion of men in the global response to the problem of rape saying, “behind every rape, there is a man.”

The high point of the advocacy meeting on sexual violence against women was the play of a film on sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo for the participants who also listened to eye witness accounts of the situation in Libya and the Central African Republic.

The special Representative of UN Secretary General on Sexual Violence and Conflict, Ms. Zainab Bangura, and some of the First Ladies in attendance took, turn to speak at the meeting in support of the global call to end sexual violence against women.

Has Etisalat Bribed Julius Agwu ?

Click for Full Image Size
Late last month, November, a press statement was released by Julius Agwu through his lawyer, Festus Keyamo, suing service provider, Etisalat to court for swapping his line without prior notice, which made him unable to either call out or receive calls, thereby resulting in loss of business opportunities.

According to the statement, Julius had contacted Etisalat, and even visited their office to inform them about his difficulty to use his line. The service provider then promised to rectify the problem, and even after several meetings and promises to reopen his line, Etisalat still left the case unattended to.

Pronto, DT put a call to Julius and he confirmed the story, and that he was suing Etisalat for N100m. Before you knew it, the buzz was all over the media, the topic so hot and Julius was readily available for questioning.

Then we got Etisalat's side of the story where they said there was no case in Julius's claim.
Now, it looks like the smoke of the fire has suddenly died down with no one raising any more dust- Julius seems to have gone mum about it, Festus Keyamo doesn't seem to be blabbing anymore and even Etisalat seems calm.

In a bid to know where the case rests at the moment, DT called Julius' line several times but the comedian who used to answer his calls now seems elusive and his phone keeps ringing unending.

We also sent him a text so he could let us know the state of things with Etisalat and whether he's still pressing charges but he simply ignored it.
Now, this leaves us with two guesses. Has Julius decided to keep quiet because Etisalat said there was no case in what he's suing them for? Or, has Etisalat given him some amount of money huge enough to shut his mouth forever?
