There is a popular saying that anything
worth doing is worth doing well. With this saying, singer, Olamide,
seems not to have any regrets signing quality artistes under his record
label and he is indeed proud that his artistes are doing well.
The
singer recently praised the vast rise of singer, Adekunle Gold, whom he
signed under his label some months back and within a short pace of
time; the singer has been able to win the heart of many.
According
to the singer, “Today I say thank God for bringing Adekunle Gold my
way. I feel so blessed to be part of his journey to greatness.”
Olamide
had on several occasions stated that his sole aim for his artistes is
to ensure that they succeed before leaving his label and should be able
to stand on their own without issues.
For those rumour peddlers who had stated
that Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, is pregnant, well, the actress has
openly revealed herself for all to see.
The actress shared a full
picture of herself standing with her friends just for everyone to see
that she was not pregnant as rumoured.
Few weeks back, the actress
was rumoured to be pregnant with many alleged pregnancy pictures
flooding the internet even with many writing that a source who was in
the know confirmed that she was truly pregnant but the actress had since
denied those reports.
What could be happening to former Super
Eagles international footballer, Taribo West, as he looked so pale when
he stepped out with some Nollywood celebrities recently.
The
former Nigerian defender turned pastor, was spotted with actor, Prince
Eke at an event and from the way he was looking, it left many wondering
what could have possibly happened to him.
A fan who is in the know said the player was recently spotted at Opebi in Ikeja and was looking so hungry.
“This man wey hungry hold for Opebi Ikeja. I mean Taribo,” the fan wrote.
West
represented the Nigerian national team in the 1998 and 2002 FIFA World
Cups. He is also known for the various unusual and colourful hairstyles
that he has sported over the years.
WASHINGTON, July 30 (Reuters) - The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
has not been able to contact the American dentist accused of killing a
beloved lion in Zimbabwe, agency director Dan Ashe said on Thursday.
Ashe,
in a post on Twitter, called the killing of Cecil the lion "tragic" and
said his agency will "go where facts lead" in its investigation of the
lion's death.
Suburban Minneapolis dentist Walter Palmer has admitted to killing the animal but said he believed the hunt was legal.

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, who is currently in the United
States of America (USA), where he went to meet President Barak Obama,
has stressed that there is no way Nigeria can succumb to pressure to
accept same $ex marriage.
During a discussion with the joint
session of Senate and House Committees on Foreign Affairs, the issue was
raised but Buhari was stern in his stand on the matter.
According
to the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi
Adeshina, Buhari maintained that sodomy is against the law in Nigeria
and abhorrent to the culture.
“The issue of g@y marriage came up
here yesterday. PMB was point blank. Sodomy is against the law in
Nigeria, and abhorrent to our culture.
“The same $ex marriage
issue came up at the joint session of Senate and House Committees on
Foreign Affairs, not in direct talks with Obama. Talks shifted to
another matter once PMB emphatically stated Nigeria's stand on same $ex
marriage. The issue was not pushed,” he said.
Congratulations are in order as Mavin Records first lady, Tiwa Savage and husband, Tunji Balogun, have welcome their first child from their marriage.
Mavin boss, Don Jazzy made the announcement a moment ago on his Twitter handle.
Fans of the singer have been anxiously waiting for the news of her childbirth and this will sooth them.
Meek Mill took to Twitter on Wednesday morning to blast Drake for allegedly not writing his own songs. "Stop comparing drake to me too... He don't write his own raps! That's why he ain't tweet me album because we found out!" The rapper tweeted.
Moreover,
he went on to write that the whole industry knows Drake's apparent
secret of using a ghostwriter, but are too afraid to speak out and tell
the truth. The whole
game know forreal they scared to tell the truth! I can't wait tok these
guys and sit back and act like they don't know! -- Meek Mill (@MeekMill) July 22, 2015
Yet,
Drake is featured on Meek Mill's song, "R.I.C.O.," although the latter
now says that the "Hold On We're Going Home" rapper didn't write his own
verses. However, Meek Mill says he didn't know when the song was being
recorded, otherwise he would have taken it off the record. He ain't even write that verse on my album and if I woulda knew I woulda took it off my album..... I don't trick my fans! Lol
- Meek Mill (@MeekMill) July 22, 2015
Meek
Mill's Twitter rant caught the attention of many fans and even rapper
Rick Ross, who was quick to defend Drake. Yet, the Tweet has since been
deleted, but one Twitter user was able to take a picture before it was
taken down. Lol even Rick Ross knows. He deleted it though. pic.twitter.com/PB9bHOAn6I -- Lil Edd (@TheRealLilEdd) July 22, 2015
Meek
Mill is a rapper from Philadelphia, releasing his studio debut album,
"Dreams and Nightmares" in 2012. The album was preceded by the single,
"Young & Gettin' It," which debuted at number two on the U.S.
Billboard 200.
It seems that
the music world is up in arms this week; on Tuesday, Taylor Swift and
Meek Mill's girlfriend Nicki Minaj clashed on the social media platform
after Minaj expressed her outrage over her "Anaconda" snub at the MTV
Video Music Awards. Taylor Swift had felt personally offended and
tweeted back at the rapper. If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year
- NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) July 21, 2015
"@NICKIMINAJ I've done nothing but love & support you," Swift wrote
upon seeing Minaj's tweets. "It's unlike you to pit women against each
other. Maybe one of the men took your slot." Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn't say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u should speak on this. @taylorswift13 -- NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) July 21, 2015 Nothing

Now that Nick Jonas and Olivia Culpo are officially over, is he ready
to rekindle his romance with Selena Gomez? The "Chains" singer answered
that very question in an in-studio interview with Capital FM's Max Akhtar in London Tuesday.
Akhtar
named two possible "contenders" for Jonas' heart, the first being
Gomez. "Obviously, you've been there before. And you did say on this
show she's a great kisser," the radio host said, to which Jonas
admitted, "Yeah." Akhtar said Gomez is "a sweetheart. I love her." Best
of all, she reminded him, "She's a single pringle."
"What's the other option?" Jonas asked.
Akhtar said, "You've also been spotted out with her. People jump to conclusions."
Jonas
explained their accidental outing. "We kind of ran into each other a
couple of weeks ago, like walking in Venice. We were both with separate
groups of friends and we ran into each other," he said. "I put a dinner
together with a bunch of really great people, like the Haim girls, who I
love. They're awesome. They're the best. It was a big group of people
and we all had a great time. We connect in that sense."
"It was nice to connect and just catch up," he added. "I'll leave it there!"
Akhtar's second option was one of Jonas' collaborators, Tinashe.
"Her
abs are probably as great as your abs," Akhtar told the famously
in-shape pop star. The radio host also recalled that Tinashe once
admitted Jonas is sexy, but he was dating Culpo at the time. "She's
like, 'He's hot, but I would never even go there because he has a
girlfriend, so you have to be respectful."
"She's dope," Jonas said. "She's kinda like the homie. Does that make sense?"
"No,
because that sounds like the side chick," Akhtar said. "I don't like
it. 'The homie.'" Jonas tried to explain himself, saying, "No, no. The
homie. I don't know. Because we worked together and we're just friends,
it feels like it's that. I wouldn't want to mess that up! I would want
to be friends with her, I think."
Once again, Akhtar asked Jonas about the possibility of reuniting with Gomez.
"There's also lots of other options," Jonas said.
Later
in the interview, during a game of radio roulette, Akhtar challenged
the pop singer to cover new hits, like Fetty Wap's "Trap Queen" and
Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" remix with Kendrick Lamar, plus an old hit:
Sisqo's "The Thong Song."
More than 40,000 people have signed a petition protesting Kanye
West’s planned performance at the closing of the Pan American Games.
The
2015 Pan Am Games have been taking place in Toronto since July 10. On
Wednesday, organizers announced on that West is confirmed to be the
headliner at the closing ceremony on July 26. Pitbull and Serena Ryder
were revealed as co-performers.
But it’s only West’s participation
that has caused outrage. While some have taken to Twitter to complain
due to the rapper’s controversial reputation, a Change.org petition
raises a different issue. Put simply, he’s not Canadian.
The petition’s mission statement reads:
“The
Toronto Pan Am games have proven to be very important for Torontonians
this year and have triggered a unified sense of pride in our city. It
would only be just to ask a proud Torontonian (or even a Canadian for
that matter) in the music industry to perform, such as Drake, Walk Off
The Earth, Feist, Metric, Shania Twain, deadmau5, Crystal Castles, Zeds
Dead, The Weeknd, Peaches, K’naan, and many many more! The options for
Toronto artists are far from limited and choosing someone like Kanye West
raises several concerns among the people. Why was a local artist or
group not chosen and supported, just as our local athletes are
throughout the games? Toronto Pan Am Games organizing committee please
reconsider your decision as we will NOT be attending Kanye West’s show.”
Of
course, while Pitbull isn’t Canadian either, Ryder IS, having been born
in Toronto, and organizers wanted to have an “international” lineup
represented. The Pan Am Games, which are held in a different city every
four years, are a global event, and the United States has more than 600
people participating, only second to Canada (720 team members).
Nevertheless, the Change.org petition currently has more than 41,000
signatures.
While it remains to be seen if organizers will change
course, similar petitions in the past have not had success. One
targeting West’s Ottawa Bluesfest performance earlier this month had no
change on the lineup, nor did another calling for West to be dumped as
June’s Glastonbury headliner. Tell us what you think of this latest
controversy in the comments below.
Scott Disick
is officially back in Los Angeles. But instead of spending time with
his children, he invited a group of models over to his new Beverly Hills
home.
As Gossip Cop has reported, Kourtney Kardashian
dumped Disick earlier this month after he was photographed getting
inappropriately close with Chloe Bartoli in Monaco. Disick was in the
midst of a major partying spree that had him away from his family for a
month. He next went to Florida, missing daughter Penelope’s birthday,
and then Long Island, where he’s originally from.
And now Disick
spent Thursday, his first day back in L.A., partying with models, who he
invited over to his new bachelor pad. The women were photographed in
revealing outfits outside the residence. Rapper Mally Mall was also
seen.
The controversial star originally purchased the mansion last
year with the intention of flipping it. But, now that Kardashian kicked
him out in the wake of their breakup, it’s now his primary place to
live. As Gossip Cop reported, Disick’s assistants were previously seen
unloading his belongings there after Kardashian threw the possessions
out of her home.
Neither Disick nor Kardashian has specifically
spoken about the split. Since ending the relationship, she has been
focused on caring for their three kids and spending time with family.
Disick has been shilling for companies on Instagram, and continuing to
party, though he has backed out of his $50,000 Atlantic City appearance.
Reports in Ghana claim Yvonne Nelson, a top
actress in the country, threw caution to the wind at a press conference
held on Friday, July 10, 2015 to create publicity for a new film, 'Any
Other Monday'.
It was reported that the actress ranted at a
journalist who had asked a question concerning a Nigerian actress that
also acted in the movie.
According to reports, a journalist had
asked the producer of the movie, Pascal Amanfo, if the Nigerian actress,
Kunle Remi, got a work permit from the necessary authority to feature
in the flick, which Yvonne did not find palatable.
Yvonne
reportedly flared up and slammed journalists in Ghana for being
unprofessional, saying she goes to Nigeria to act films without being
harassed.
She allegedly said there are too many irresponsible
journalists in Ghana and urged media men to write positive stories about
actors and not negative stories.
Renowned Publicist, Toni Payne, has urged
Freeze to keep his marriage crisis away from the public and handle the
issue like a matured mind.
The top OAP in Nigeria has been making comments on his estranged wife, which some people are not happy about.
Toni
Payne, whose marriage to singer, 9ice, packed up some months after they
got married, told Freeze to consider the children they both had
together in their union.
She said, “Stop! You guys have kids
together no? I understand the temptation to call out a bad ex but truth
be told those you complain to publicly don’t really care. I doubt one
single person who comments or spreads it will come over to comfort you,
help mediate or cook your Egusi soup.
“It will be gist for a few
days till they move on to the next gist. Sort this internally please and
channel the energy instead into creating awareness about male domestic
abuse in a proactive way. All this won’t solve anything bro. You are
blessed!”
On the day that his daughter turned 3-years-old, one may think that Scott Disick would be posting pictures of the little princess, raving about the kind of joy that she brings him.
If you think that, you would be wrong.
Rather than posting anything about Penelope Disick, Scott took to Instagram on July 8 to post an image of a classic car. He captioned the image, "Need this asap."
As
expected, many of the troubled reality star's 9.4 million followers
didn't take to kindly to the post, with many not-so-subtly reminding him
about the significance of the day.
Scott's post (and his daughter's birthday) comes just a few days after Kourtney Kardashianpulled the plug on their nine-year relationship. The split comes on the heels of multiple pictures emerging of Scott getting awfully cozy with his ex-girlfriend, L.A.-based stylist Chloe Bartoli in Monte Carlo, pictures that "blindsided" Kourtney because she never felt infidelity was a problem with Scott, despite his many issues.
Scott,
it's been reported, actually has not been to the Calabasas, Calif. home
that he and Kourtney share in over a month. After Kourtney ended their
relationship, Scott reportedly went to Miami instead of facing the
mother to his three children. With her daddy thousands of miles away,
Penelope celebrated her 3rd birthday at Disneyland with her mom, auntie Kim Kardashian and her daughter, North.
"He was afraid to go and talk to Kourtney because he gets freaked out by confrontation," a source recently told People magazine. "He should have gone home days ago, and he knew it."
Despite
the fact that the former couple was together for nine years and has
three children together -- Mason, 5, Penelope, 3, and Reign, 6 months --
Scott has yet to apologize to the family for the damage caused within
the last few weeks. Instead, he's chosen to party, TMZ recently said, an
issued that has long ruffled Kourtney's feathers, especially given the
fact he checked into a rehab facility earlier this year.
"Scott
is not in a place to apologize," a source recently said. "He knows 100
percent what he has done and the damage he has caused. He's not blind to
that. But he doesn't want to face it."
On July 8, People
reported that a lot of Scott's issues center around fatherhood. "He
loves his kids," says a source. "But he was never ready to be a
stay-at-home dad."
Last year, fans of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians"
saw Scott's frustrated reaction when Kourtney told him that she was
pregnant with the couple's third child. Scott admitted at the time that
he was "freaked out" by an addition to the family.
"Scott rebels
against the crazy responsibility of having three kids," People's source
said. "He acts out, he drinks too much and he embarrasses Kourtney."
His
now ex-girlfriend couldn't have been pleased with him on July 7 either.
With his breakup in full swing, Scott took to Instagram to promote an
upcoming appearance at a Las Vegas nightclub. "Come party with me this
Friday in Vegas," he wrote. He has since deleted the post.
It's fair to say, though, that the damage has probably already been done.
Fair-skinned Ghanaian actress, Nadia Buari
gave birth to a set of twin girls few months ago. She returned to acting
shortly after giving birth to her children.
Now, she has passed an important message to her fans on self-esteem.
The
popular screen goddess, who is yet to reveal the identity of her
children, emphasized that for one to have a fulfilling life, he or she
must have high self-esteem.
“Tell me how a person judges his or
her self-esteem, and I will tell you how that person operates at work,
in love, in $ex, in parenting, in every important aspect of existence,
and how high he or she is likely to rise.
The reputation you have
with yourself, your self-esteem, is the single most important factor
for a fulfilling life,” she captioned the latest photo she posted on
Instagram.
Juliet Ibrahim, a Ghanaian actress whose
charming face, beauty, alongside her amiable nature has endeared her to
numerous fans across Africa has been put on blast by those who are
against her recent billboard advert.
The divorced mother of one
was spotted on the billboard advert of one of the popular skin
lightening creams in Ghana, ‘Carotone’.
Chris Vincent of Ghana Celebrities, one those that felt bad about the development, penned his aggression on the matter.
“It’s
pathetic to come across a bleaching celebrity but for one to boldly
become a poster girl for a bleaching cream; that is diabolical,
insensitive and grossly callous, considering the fact that we have a
large population of uneducated Ghanaians who would just buy these
products for the mere fact Juliet Ibrahim is on there."
Continuing,
the obviously angry Vincent expressed his utmost disappointment of how
Juliet could stoop so low to deceive the people that ought to be looking
up to her for good morals.
“I don’t know how much they paid
Juliet Ibrahim and I do not care to know else, I would have asked her.
However, I am offensively disappointment to see a mother of one, a
well-established name with several young followers having seemingly
relegated her conscience into the gutters, for the sake of money.”
Meanwhile, the actress-cum-producer is well-known to be of a mixed parentage.
Now that Marvel and Sony have found their Peter Parker, the focus has turned to the aunt who raised him.
Sources tell Variety that Marisa Tomei is the choice to play Aunt May in the next installment of the “Spider-Man” franchise.
Sony and Marvel had no comment on the casting.
While
insiders could not say where things stood in the deal-making process,
they have added that an offer was made late last week for the
Oscar-winning actress to join Tom Holland, who was recently tapped to
play the web-slinging superhero.
Marvel and Sony recently
hand-picked Holland to play Spider-Man after months of meetings and
screen tests with eager young actors, in addition to selecting “Cop Car”
helmer Jon Watts to direct the pic.
The studios are still in the
process of finding a writer to join Watts in the screenwriting process
but insiders explained that the top brass also wanted to lock down other
actors who would appear in multiple films so schedules could be worked
out before shooting commences next year.
Kevin Feige and Amy
Pascal will produce the pic, and though Holland is expected to first
appear in “Captain America: Civil War” in a cameo appearance as Parker,
it seems more likely that Tomei will not appear until the first
“Spider-Man” film bows on July 28, 2017.
The job marks a new
direction for Tomei, who generally sticks to dramas like “The Ides of
March” and “The Wrestler,” or romantic comedies like “Crazy Stupid Love”
and “My Cousin Vinny” (which landed her an Oscar), rather than studio
tentpoles.
She can be seen next in “Train Wreck” opposite Amy
Schumer and is currently filming “The Big Short” with Christian Bale and
Ryan Gosling. She is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
Move over War Machine, you could be getting some company in the big house.
Ultimate
Fighting Championship (UFC) Octagon Girl Brittney Palmer was allegedly
attacked by her husband Aaron Zalewski last month in Los Angeles,
California, when a domestic dispute turned violent and according to a
report from TMZ, nearly fatal.
In
docs obtained by TMZ Sports ... LAPD says things got physical when they
wrestled for her phone -- Zalewski noticed she was recording the
argument, and during the struggle he threw Palmer, and she hit her head
on a bedpost.
Brittney told cops Zalewski yelled, "Pack your
f**king bags and go!" -- but wouldn't let her leave. She says he threw
her down again -- pinning her face down on a mattress, with his knee in
her back. She says she struggled to breathe for 2 minutes while he held
her down.
Zalewski was charged with attempted murder, spousal battery, and criminal threats and was released on $1 million bail.
A stunning sight as always, Nollywood
actress Ini Edo stepped out today in a colouful outfit — a crop top and
skirt while flashing her sexy abs. She shared photo on her Instagram

Rachel Taylor is taking a personal stand against fat-shaming.
The brunette woman is making headlines today after her recent Facebook post went viral,
in which she recounts her experience while shopping at Old Navy and
shares a disappointing conversation she overheard between a mother and
daughter.
"This whole experience has been unexpected and insane!
I've received thousands of messages and comments from men and women who
struggle with their self-image," Taylor tells E! News in a statement.
But, first, let's backtrack. Here's what happened:
"The
girl picked up a plus-size tank top, showed it to her mom and said,
'Look! Me and So-and-so can fit in this tank top!'" Taylor recalled in
her post. "Her mom laughed and said, 'Yeah, you could! That thing is
huge!'"
While the comment was not directed towards Taylor, she
admitted, "I couldn't help it; I started crying," adding, "I guess the
girl and her mom walked away."
Taylor says her husband then walked
her out of the store back to their car, where she sat "crying for a
long time" before she went back inside to finish shopping.
"I
ended up buying that tank top because, it turns out, I look fierce in
it!" Taylor wrote, sharing a dressing room selfie. "Be kind. Think about
others before you speak. And if someone hurts you, you have to move
on."
She later edited her post to include a shout-out to Old Navy, thanking the store for carrying a wide variety of clothing.
"Old Navy, thank you for having adorable clothes for all shapes & sizes," she wrote.
In
spite of the positive feedback, Taylor tells E! News, "Unfortunately,
I've also received comments ranging from calling me a 'crybaby fatty' to
discussing how many shots from a large caliber weapon it would take to
'put down these fierce fatties.'"
Still, she hopes that her
message will help others with their self-esteem. "I don't understand how
this is acceptable behavior in our society. No matter what their shape
or size or how they got there, every man and woman should feel confident
in their own skin. Body diversity isn't about promoting unhealthy
lifestyles; it's about loving yourself and others. I hope that by
sharing my struggle, I can help promote a society that encourages
kindness and positivity instead of judgment."
Brody Jenner says the difference between Bruce Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner is “incredible.”
Brody
was on Tuesday’s “Today Show” to promote his new E! series “Sex With
Brody,” but spent a significant chunk of the interview talking about
Caitlyn’s transition. “Growing up, I really didn’t have the greatest
relationship with Bruce. I didn’t see him that often. Caitlyn is just a
much freer person,” he said.
Brody went on, “It’s incredible to
see the difference between Caitlyn and Bruce. Bruce and I just kind of
really didn’t get along to be honest. And Caitlyn, it’s literally like
getting to know somebody, your dad, all over again, but in a better
way.”
Brody particularly likes to see “Caitlyn be so open and
speak about things Bruce would never speak about. Bruce had so many
secrets, and so many things that were building up.” In fact, Caitlyn’s
coming out has shed some light on his childhood. “There were just a lot
moments Bruce wasn’t around and I didn’t know why. And Bruce was
harboring some secrets and some things none of us knew about,” said
Brody, who first found out about Caitlyn’s gender identity issues three
years ago.
Interviewer Hoda Kotb also put Brody on the spot about
stepsister Kourtney Kardashian’s breakup with Scott Disick. While he
very clearly didn’t feel that comfortable commenting, Brody ultimately
said, “Scott and Kourtney both are great. Obviously Scott’s gone through
some issues in the past. He’s worked them. Honestly, when I saw those
pictures, I just went ‘uh-oh.’ I even showed my girlfriend and went,
‘This isn’t good.'”
“It’s unfortunate,” he added.
Amanda Peterson, best known for her role in the 80s romantic comedy "Can't Buy Me Love," died on July 6 at the age of 43. TMZ confirmed the news of her death, reporting that she passed away at her home in Greeley, CO.
After hitting teen idol status with her co-star Patrick Dempsey, Peterson left the entertainment industry in 1994 and moved back to her hometown where she spent the rest of her time.
For the stars and contestants who make it to the end of each season of "The Bachelor" or "The Bachelorette" that final rose can translate to one or two outcomes; A happily ever after or much more often a romance gone wrong
PHILADELPHIA
— Bill Cosby's admission that he obtained quaaludes to give young women
he was pursuing for sex could bolster defamation claims lodged by his
accusers, the women's lawyers said after The Associated Press reported
on newly released court documents.
Cosby in sworn testimony
unsealed Monday admitted that he gave the now-banned sedative to at
least one of his accusers and to unnamed others. His lawyer interfered
before he could answer deposition questions in 2005 about how many women
were given drugs and whether they knew about it.
"If today's
report is true, Mr. Cosby admitted under oath 10 years ago sedating
women for sexual purposes," said Lisa Bloom, attorney for model Janice
Dickinson, who contends she was drugged and raped. "Given that, how dare
he publicly vilify Ms. Dickinson and accuse her of lying when she tells
a very similar story?"
The
AP had gone to court to compel the release of a deposition in a sexual
abuse lawsuit filed by former Temple University employee Andrea Constand
— the first of a cascade of lawsuits against Cosby that have severely
damaged his image as doting TV dad Dr. Cliff Huxtable on "The Cosby
Show" from 1984 to 1992.
His lawyers objected to the release of
the material, arguing it would embarrass him. Ultimately, a judge seized
on Cosby's public moralizing as he unsealed portions of the deposition
that had been filed in court.
"The stark contrast between Bill
Cosby, the public moralist and Bill Cosby, the subject of serious
allegations concerning improper (and perhaps criminal) conduct, is a
matter as to which the AP — and by extension the public — has a
significant interest," U.S. District Judge Eduardo Robreno wrote.
Cosby,
77, has been accused by more than two dozen women of sexual misconduct
in episodes dating back more than four decades. He has never been
charged with a crime, and the statute of limitations on most of the
accusations has expired.
The entertainer settled Constand's
lawsuit under confidential terms in 2006. Even the judge never saw the
settlement terms, although the documents show that Cosby at one point
offered the accuser an "educational trust" fund.
His lawyers in
the Philadelphia case did not immediately return telephone and email
messages Monday. The AP does not identify victims of sexual assault, but
Constand's lawyer said she consented to be identified although she did
not want to comment.
Cosby's lawyers insisted during the
deposition that two of the accusers knew they were taking quaaludes from
the comedian, according to the documents.
Nevertheless, attorneys
for some of the numerous women suing Cosby seized on the testimony as
powerful corroboration of what they have been saying all along: that he
drugged and raped women.
"The women have been saying they've been
drugged and abused, and these documents appear to support the
allegations," said lawyer Joe Cammarata, who represents accuser Therese
Serignese, one of three women suing Cosby for defamation in
Massachusetts. She has also agreed to have her name published.
Celebrity
attorney Gloria Allred, representing other women, said she also hopes
to use the admission in civil court cases against the comedian.
Cosby,
giving sworn testimony in the lawsuit accusing him of sexually
assaulting Constand at his home near Philadelphia in 2004, said he
obtained seven quaalude prescriptions in the 1970s. Constand's lawyer
asked if he had kept the sedatives through the 1990s — after they were
banned — but was frustrated by objections from Cosby's attorney.
"When
you got the quaaludes, was it in your mind that you were going to use
these quaaludes for young women that you wanted to have sex with?"
lawyer Dolores M. Troiani asked.
"Yes," Cosby answered.
"Did you ever give any of these young women the quaaludes without their knowledge?"
Cosby's lawyer again objected, leading Troiani to petition the federal judge to force Cosby to cooperate.
Cosby
later said he gave Constand three half-pills of Benadryl, although
Troiani in the documents voices doubt that was the drug involved.
Constand thought he was giving her an herbal remedy, she said in her
lawsuit. She recalls having him touch her breasts and put her hand on
his penis, and woke up to find her clothes askew, according to her
lawsuit. Cosby called any sexual contact consensual, according to
arguments made by Troiani.
"This evidence shows a pattern in which
defendant 'mentored' naive young women and introduced drugs into the
relationship, with and without the woman's knowledge, in order for him
to achieve sexual satisfaction," Troiani wrote in a motion to compel
Cosby to answer deposition questions.
Cosby had fought the AP's
efforts to unseal the testimony, with his lawyer arguing that the
deposition could reveal details of Cosby's marriage, sex life and
prescription drug use.
"It would be terribly embarrassing for this
material to come out," lawyer George M. Gowen III argued in June. He
also said the material would "prejudice him in eyes of the jury pool in
Massachusetts," where Cosby is fighting defamation lawsuits brought by
the women who say his representatives smeared them by accusing them of
