Liam Hemsworth tried to lose weight for his role in 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire'.
The hunky actor claims he tried to avoid pumping iron in the gym and tried to eat healthily before reprising his role in the popular sci-fi series because he wanted to shed some extra pounds.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: ''I was actually trying to lose weight, so I'm not lifting anything too heavy during this process. I tried to cut out the bad food.''
Liam's co-star, Josh Hutcherson insists there was no rivalry between the male cast members on set when it came to bulking up their bodies for the movie.
He explained: ''We didn't really train together, for me I definitely did a lot more training for the first movie, I kind of coasted into the second one but I worked very hard, a lot of weight lifting and stuff.''
While the pair don't share a rivalry in the gym, Liam - who plays Jennifer's on-screen love interest and hunting partner Gale Hawthorne in the adventure movie - has to watch as the blonde-beauty's character Katniss also shares a romance with Josh's alter-ego, Peeta Mellark.
Speaking of the love triangle, Liam explained: Gael is constantly hurt to watch this girl that he feels very strongly about fall in love with someone else. I think for the most part there is not too much animosity between him and Peeta, I think for the most part Gael understands Peeta is one of Katniss' best hopes of staying alive. He understands that as hard as it is to watch someone fall in love with someone he loves it best for her.''
